The purpose of this 6 hour course is to provide awareness of Aboriginal cultures in Australia and provide an open environment in which participants are able to learn and explore how history impacts on current Aboriginal health. Through discussion and simulated exercises, participants will learn practice skills that will allow effective working relationships with Aboriginal clients and families.
Course objectives- identify barriers that affect contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people (clients and families)
- learn how history impacts on current Indigenous people today
- use practical strategies to assist with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- understand models and theories of practice
